The protein Abeta 42–which is indicative of Alzheimer’s disease if present in elevated levels–can be tested for as early as age 55. Canadian neuroscientist Dr. Patrick McGeer and his wife, Dr. Edith McGeer, suggest individuals found to have an elevated level of Abeta 42 begin taking daily ibuprofen to ward off the disease.
